The Perilous Faith of the Sons of the Brigade 

Ten year old South Vietnamese soldier. South Vietnam 1968. 'Called a “little tiger” for killing two “Vietcong women cadre” - his mother and teacher, it was rumored.

In the beginning of August 1914, Austro-Hungarian soldiers killed Momčilo Gavrić’s father, mother, grandmother, his three sisters, and four of his brothers. Left without family and without a home, Momčilo went to join theSerbian army. At the age of 8, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal by the commander of his unit, and given a military uniform.

Johnny Clem, a Civil War drummer boy would in the course of a Union retreat after a battle, shoot a Confederate colonel who had demanded his surrender. After the battle, the "Drummer Boy of Chickamauga" would promoted to sergeant at the age of 13, the youngest soldier ever to be a noncommissioned officer in the United States Army.  

Ahmed went from being a carefree boy with a loving family to a child soldier living on one of the most lethal streets of the devastated city of Aleppo.  Amhed, 8 joined the free Syrian army after his mother and father died in a mortar strike.  "I ended up helping my uncle and his comrades because I have no other choice, there is no school, my family is dead, what choice do I have?"

Hans-George Henke, a 15 year old German soldier, joined the Luftwaffe to support himself after the death of both of his parents.  He looks down at his Panzerfaust and wonders the choices he was to make, as his world crumbles around him.
